Reflections on Dharma, Service, Oneness & Desire

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on Dharma, service, oneness, and desire—and how deeply they are all connected.

In yoga philosophy, when our individual soul (atman) and our ego (ahamkara) are no longer seen as separate, but as one with universal consciousness—the divine (Brahman)—we experience the truth of what is. In this state, there is no separation.

The whole universe experiences itself through you.

It’s only the ego that creates the illusion of separation. And while this illusion is what allows us to have our interactive human experience, it can also pull us away from our truth. Through yoga and other practices, we realign the body and mind with our soul—so we can remember our connection to the collective soul.

When we are living from our highest aligned truth, we naturally know our Dharma—our unique way of being of service, in our highest human expression. From here, even our desires shift, aligning not just for our highest good, but for the good of all.

So how do you follow your Dharma? You follow what lights you up. You follow joy.

But here’s the key I’ve been sitting with: to live our truth courageously, we first need to feel safe, secure, and whole. Otherwise, we chase outcomes and desires from a place of lack or unworthiness, rather than knowing that our divine truth is already wholeness.

This is the foundation of the base chakra, Muladhara chakra—the root of our human, phyiscal, embodied experience. When we anchor into safety, security, and stability, we create the foundation to experience true freedom in this lifetime.

So it’s not “wrong” to desire financial stability, loving support, or a safe home within your body. These desires are sacred—they allow you to feel resourced enough to share your light, to serve from your highest, most joyful, expanded self.

The path forward is already alive within you. You know it in your being. There’s an inner nudge guiding you.

Choose to shine your light. Do what you need to feel safe and grounded. Work through limiting beliefs, fears, and old conditioning. Honour them, thank them, and move through them—because they are gifts, guiding you into more freedom.

Then, align with your soul’s wildest desires. Dream big. Disengage from distractions. Listen for the whispers of your soul calling you forward… and then, leap.
